Llama Runs Loose In Maury County Neighborhood

Posted:

COLUMBIA, Tenn. - For the past two years a llama has been terrorizing pets and residents along McKnight Road in Maury County, and no one has been able to catch it.

"Mama caught him looking in the window there," said resident Sarah Rubert.

The llama helped itself to neighbors' gardens and flowers, and attacked their dogs.

"It just reared up and was trying to stomp down on them," said neighbor Caryol Lloyd.

People are worried their children could be next.

"With that llama around you got to keep watching them and make sure that llama don't get after them," said Bryan Rubert.

For two years the llama outwitted everyone.

The exotic animal was spotted Monday, possibly taunting the cows that were inside the fence.

"There were three guys on horseback trying to catch it and they couldn't catch it," said Lloyd.

Neighbors said they were not mad at the llama's owner; they just want it captured.

"Who would have thought you'd be terrorized by a llama," said Bryan.

Animal control and the county mayor did not return phone calls Monday.
