VERSAILLES, Ky. (AP) - Police in Versailles say the National Transportation Safety Board has sent an investigator to the site of a single-engine plane crash in central Kentucky.
Police say the plane's pilot was killed in the crash, the pilot's identity has not been released.
Versailles police officer Pat Melton says the air safety investigator from the NTSB will be investigating the crash site Thursday and Friday. Wreckage will be sent to Griffith, Ga., for further investigation.
Melton says police were called shortly after 10 p.m. EDT Wednesday to the site in eastern Woodford County about three to five miles south of Lexington's Blue Grass Airport.
Melton says the pilot was the only person on board the craft.
