MORRISON, Tenn. - A factory may be moving into a mid-state county where the unemployment rate is near 14 percent. The site is the old Carrier plant in Warren County.
County officials did not say which company was interested, but it could mean hundreds of new jobs.
Carrier moved out of the complex in Morrison four years ago and took more than 1,000 jobs.
There's nearly a million square feet of space in the buildings.
"When Carrier left people had to sell. Some packed up with Carrier and went to different places. I got friends that wound up in Texas and everywhere else, so it would help Morrison if it comes back," said Dawn Martin with Medley's Diner.
Business leaders in McMinnville said they heard a deal is very close.
The local paper reported Warren County was competing with two other locations, one in Texas and one in Mississippi.
