School Patrol: Mid-State School Certified Green

Posted:

NASHVILLE, Tenn. - A Wilson County elementary school was honored with a ‘green' thumbs up for all of its hard work. Only three other schools in the state have the bragging rights to the honor.

The grounds of Lebanon's Southside Elementary school have a different look. Teacher Vicki Shelton showed what set Southside apart from others.

This past Earth Day, Southside became only the 4th school in Tennessee to receive a very special gift.

The Tennessee Department of Environment and Conservation, named Southside a TP3 Green school.

Southside for the past year has made a conscious effort to be "green" by recycling, turning out lights and making their own back yard, a place of learning.

A school can become a TP3 school by following several levels of commitment to pollution prevention throughout the school year.
