Murder Victims In Macon County Identified, Suspect Arrested

LAFAYETTE, Tenn. - Investigators were on the scene of a murder in Lafayette, Tennessee. Three people were confirmed dead.

The Macon County Sheriff's Office and Tennessee Bureau of Investigation were both called to the scene.

The crime scene was a mobile home on Highland Drive east of Lafayette. The Macon County Sheriff Mark Gammons said several people spent the night partying and doing drugs.

Just before sunrise a call came into 911 from a woman that had left the home just before the shooting.

"She heard gunfire and that time she proceeded to hide in the woods. After the suspect left, she comes back out to the mobile home and goes in and finds three victims have been shot," said Gammons.

The woman told police to look for Charlie Harrison, who lives near the Sumner County and Macon County line. Just before noon, someone spotted Harrison going into the Bethpage market on Highway 31 in Sumner County. Police took him into custody.

The sheriff believed a fight over meth led to the shootings.

"I think more or less it's where people are maybe on narcotics a lot of times. They want some money and they don't care if it's there friends of a stranger. They're out to get whatever they can get," said Gammons.

Neighbors said they never heard gunshots, but they've heard arguing at the home in the past. One lady said the landlord was trying to evicate the tenants.

"The woman that owns the place has been trying to get them out of her house. They was using her lights. She even turned the meter off," said neighbor Linda Whittemore.

One of the victim's was Lisa Holland's husband, Jamey Wayne Holland. She said they separated last week and have three children.

"I don't know how to feel. I think that it's cruel. It's the most terrifying way to feel," said Holland.

The other two victims have been identified as 20-year-old Jessica Danielle Bentle and 26-year-old Mooesto Retureta.
