Story Of Nashville Nurses Take Center Stage At Vanderbilt

NASHVILLE, Tenn. - A new musical is making its premiere in Nashville, and it has a one of a kind cast. ‘Hey Florence!' is a musical about the real life of nurses.

"I get it. I've done it. I've seen it. I've smelled it. I've touched it, so I get it," said nurse Susan Hernandez.

The show was written by Craig Christie, an Australian playwright who job shadowed nurses at Vanderbilt University Medical Center. He then wrote a musical about them.

"These are real nurses, telling their real stories, and they do it with such extraordinary integrity, commitment and energy. So there's something quite riveting about seeing that happen on stage," said Christie.

The performers in the musical are all active duty nurses at Vanderbilt.
