Damage Assessments Begin Monday In Two Counties

(AP) NASHVILLE, Tenn. - State and federal officials will begin compiling flood damage assessments Monday in Hamilton and Hardin counties.

Gov. Phil Bredesen on Thursday asked the Tennessee and Federal Emergency Management agencies to provide a joint preliminary damage assessment for the two.

It's a step toward determining if the counties are eligible for government recovery assistance.

Tennessee remains under a declared state of emergency because of flooding across the state.
