Delilah Comes To Music City, Brings Good Cause

NASHVILLE, Tenn. - Most everyone knows the name Delilah and her passion for mixing sage advice with the perfect song. On Friday in Nashville, people came out to see Delilah's other passion - her artwork.

Fifth Avenue closed down, so Nashville could roll out the red carpet for Delilah, a radio host with plenty of friends in Music City.

"Our biggest song ever was called "Amazed," and it spent nine weeks at number one. She was a big reason for that. She played that record over, over and over again," said Dean Sams, Lonestar.

People filled the Rymer Gallery in downtown Nashville to see Delilah's first-ever art exhibit. HLN anchor Robin Meade also came out to meet the lady behind those sultry sounds on the radio.

"This woman has the most beautiful alto speaking voice. So from one deep voiced woman to another, I love it," said Meade.

The most listened to woman in America made her entrance with one of country's leading ladies.

Wynonna Judd and Delilah became fast friends some years ago, and she wanted to be here for her pal's big night.

"Us girls stick together. She supports me, and we met over the phone and became instant family of choice," said Wynonna.

Delilah is looking for people to help her Point Hope organization, which helps children around the world. She using art to do that, something she's been doing for 30 years.

"I never put it out there for the world to see. It's just kind of a personal thing for family and friends.  So this was kind of like putting my heart out there," said Delilah.

Delilah founded Point Hope in 2004. One of the organization's biggest projects has been bringing much needed resources to a Liberian refugee camp of 60,000 people.
