Taylor Swift won Songwriter and Artist of the year.NASHVILLE, Tenn.- They are masters at the art of the song. Songwriters truly encompass what Music City is all about. Sunday night they were honored at a special ceremony downtown.
The Nashville Songwriters Association International honored Toby Keith with artist of the decade. Hit-maker Craig Wiseman received songwriter of the decade. But it was country legend Tammy Wynette's induction into the Songwriters Hall of Fame that made the night special.
Wynette is best known for her hit "Stand By Your Man." She died in 1998. Also, Taylor Swift won Songwriter and Artist of the year.
"The Songwriter Award means so much to me because I write so many of my songs by myself. These are songs I wrote on my bedroom floor, or in the middle of the night or a hook that hit me in the middle of the day when I'm having a conversation with someone, and I'm like, ‘Hold that thought. I gotta go record this,'" said Swift.
Swift is scheduled to perform at the CMAs in November at the Sommett Center.
