NASHVILLE, Tenn. - ASCAP took over the Ryman Auditorium Monday night to honor the 51 biggest country songs of the year.
Some of Music City's biggest names walked the read carpet before the 47th annual ASCAP Awards. This was the night the unsung heroes behind the country stars were put in the spotlight.
Alan Jackson performed his hit 'Good Times' and took home the award for songwriter/artist of the year.
Ashley Gorley won both songwriter and song of the year honors for his Trace Adkins hit, 'You're Gonna Miss This'.
"He's had a great year, not just with this song. He still has hits. He's got new hits on the radio right now. I mean he's on a roll," said Adkins.
ASCAP named EMI Publishing as the 2009 Publisher of the year.
