Toy Convoy Starts Christmas Ride Early

Posted:

TULLAHOMA, Tenn.- If you were in Coffee County Sunday it was hard to miss a major toy convoy making its way From Manchester to Tullahoma. A group of bikers got a head start on making sure no one goes without this Christmas.

At first glance, Sunday's convoy may have looked like a bunch of rough riders, but underneath it all, they have some pretty soft hearts.

For 13 years Katy Ishee has organized motorcyclists, hotriders, or anyone who has wheels from far and wide just as long as you bring something for the kids.

"Makes you feel good when you can help somebody that can't help themselves," said Ishee.

The need has always been there, but the past two years have proven to be even tougher for families to make ends meet, much less purchase Christmas gifts.

"So many people have lost their jobs, and Christmas is all about the kids. I mean I can't even imagine being a kid and waking up and not having a couple of toys under the tree," said Ishee.

It's that spirit of giving way before any Thanksgiving dinner or Christmas morning that makes this Highway 41 Toy convoy part of a mission.

The money and toys go to the Coffee County sheriff and fire department.  Those who want to help, can still donate toys.
