Man struck while aiding injured pedestrian dies

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (AP) - A man struck by a car after stopping to help an injured pedestrian has died from his injuries in Chattanooga.

Witnesses told police that a pedestrian darted out into traffic near downtown and was struck by a vehicle that attempted to go around him Thursday afternoon. Police say another driver who saw that accident and stopped to render aid was struck by a vehicle traveling the other direction. He died at a Chattanooga hospital.

Police say the injured pedestrian is in critical condition.

Names have not been released pending notification of relatives.
