NASHVILLE, Tenn. - The Salvation Army will kick off their Angel Tree program Saturday at Green Hills, Cool Springs, Hickory Hollow and Rivergate malls.
The program allows children and the elderly to receive a little something extra during the holiday season.
More families are expected to need help this year with unemployment still on the rise. The Salvation Army is expecting more then 14,000 angels that will need to be adopted.
"We've had some families come back. We have had a lot of new families that have never had to do any program like this before because of the recession and because they are having a tough time finding a job," said Matthew Vamvas, Salvation Army.
The organization still needs volunteers to man the Angel Trees and distribute the gifts next month. To find out how you can help, click here or call 615-291-6803.
