PULASKI, Tenn. - The Giles County Sheriff's Department held a press conference Tuesday and released new information in the murder cases of Desere Thornton, Jerrod Thornton and Anthony Thornton.

Authorities said two sets of 911 calls linked the teenage suspects to a suspicious fire that officials later realized was a triple homicide scene.

Shortly after receiving a series of calls about a fire at the Thorntons' residence, 911 operators received a frantic call from Matthew Wood's mother.

“My son just called me and said him and a friend of his was playing with fire and he is burnt really bad, and he is screaming and crying,” said the mother during the 911 call.

Investigators ultimately linked Wood and Angel's injuries to the murders.

At Tuesday's press conference, authorities confirmed they were looking into the possibility that 18-year-old William Angel and 18-year-old Matthew Wood committed the murders after an argument with Jerrod Thornton over a girl.

Giles County Sheriffs investigators also dispelled rumors that there were other suspects in the triple homicide.

Police arrested Wood and Angel after the bodies of Desere and her 16-year-old and 9-year-old sons were found inside their burnt home on Oct. 23.
