Metro Police Investigate Homicide In West Nashville

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Police are investigating a homicide at the Hampton Inn and Suites on 7815 Coley Davis Road. The hotel is just off of Interstate 40 not far from the Bellevue Mall.

The housekeeping staff found the body of Wendy McKinney, 46-years-old, in the bathroom of a 3rd floor guestroom Wednesday at 11:25 a.m.

Police said she and her boyfriend checked into the hotel Monday night, and he left just before midnight the same night.

Surveillance video showed him coming back to the hotel parking lot before 1:00 a.m. and leaving around 2:45 a.m., but never going back inside the building.

Officials said McKinney is from Dickson, but worked at a grocery store near the hotel. Her family reported her missing Tuesday.

"We know that these two have had trouble in the past," said Don Aaron, Metro Police spokesman. "Troope was arrested by Dickson County authorities on August 5 of this year for domestic against McKinney."

Police are looking for William "Billy" Troope. He’s 50-years-old, and he is believed to be driving a 1994 turquoise Ford Crown Victoria, license plate 873-TJT.
