NASHVILLE, Tenn. - A computer glitch snarled air traffic up and down the east coast Thursday morning, including the Nashville International Airport.
According to Federal Aviation officials, a flight based system in Atlanta, Ga., developed a problem after a 6 a.m. outage Thursday.
The system processes flight plans for air traffic, and after the outage air traffic controllers had to manually input flight plans.
The Federal Aviation Authority said that air traffic could slow to half of its normal rate.
The Nashville International Airport confirmed they were experiencing delays, and patrons should call the airport or check www.nashintl.com before they leave to catch their flight.
The FAA also said that air traffic control radar coverage and communication with aircrafts has not been affected.
Also, a contingency plan has been put in place by the FAA to make sure the system operates safely.
