NASHVILLE, Tenn. - According to AAA, more people are expected to traveling this Thanksgiving week, but less are going to their destination by air.
During the Thanksgiving holiday, more than 38 million people are expected to travel by air, train, automobile, bus and watercraft; that's up 1.4 percent from 2008.
The airline industry is the only travel method that has seen a decrease. In 2008, 2.5 million people used the air to get to their Thanksgiving destination. Experts said last year there were more flights and airline tickets were cheaper. AAA expects 2.3 million people to fly to travel this year.
While gas prices are higher nationally more people are using vehicles to travel. The national price is $2.63. That a 25 percent increase from November 2008.
Sunday, Nov. 29, is expected to be a busy day for airline travelers. Most people are returning home during the day.
