NEW YORK, N.Y. - The FDA has approved a new vaccine to help prevent the seasonal flu; however, Agriflu will not fight the H1-N1 virus.
The FDA used an accelerated approval process with this vaccine. The drug maker showed the vaccine induces levels of antibodies in the blood that are effective in preventing seasonal flu, but further studies still need to be done.
The FDA says Agriflu will only be administered to adults. It will be administered as a single shot in the upper arm.
