NASHVILLE, Tenn. - A festive evening was held at the Capitol Monday for the annual lighting of the State Christmas tree.
Hundreds came out to be apart of all the fun. The yearly tradition not only brings middle Tennessee families together, but also kick starts the holiday season.
"I've always loved this time of year, both Andrea and I do. It's become a way of kicking it off, getting things started and bringing people together," said Gov. Phil Bredesen.
Nashville's Christmas tree lighting will happen this Saturday, the same night as the Nashville Christmas Parade.
