NASHVILLE, Tenn. - A duplex fire sparked up early Friday morning and left two families out in the cold.
The fire started just before 5 a.m. on Whites Creek Pike just off of Briley Parkway in North Nashville.
Neighbors said the rear of the home was engulfed when they woke up.
Both families got out safely, although a family pet died in the fire.
Nashville District Fire Chief Jim Holmes said most of the fire was contained to the attic.
The cause will be investigated.
