Crimes Against Islamic Center Considered Hate Crime

Posted:

NASHVILLE, Tenn. - Members of a South Nashville worship center said they're concerned for their safety after vandals struck Tuesday night.

When people arrived at the Al-Farooq Islamic Center for morning prayer Wednesday they found the words "Muslims Go Home" spray painted across the building.

A profanity-laced hand written note was also left behind that disparaged the prophet Mohammed and even advocated the eradication of Muslims.

Metro police and the FBI said they were investigating the crime as a hate crime.

In the past, Islamic centers in Clarksville, Columbia and Murfreesboro have all been the targets of vandals.

Murfreesboro Islamic Center Vandalized

A little over three weeks ago, the Murfreesboro Islamic Center was vandalized.

Someone spray painted the center's sign on Bradyville Pike with the words "Not Welcome."
