Saturday or Sunday: Which Day Will You Trick Or Treat?

BELLE MEADE, Tenn. - Halloween falls on Sunday this year. That has left many parents with a decision to make: send out their trick or treaters on Saturday or on the actual holiday.

At the Belle Meade United Methodist Church Children's Center, parents were unanimous about which day their children will put on their Halloween costumes and hit the streets.

"We decided to go on and do it on Sunday.  Stick with tradition," said Liz Fox. "We're not going to change the calendar just because it's Sunday."

Although many parents said they plan on celebrating Halloween on Sunday, many cities and counties in Middle Tennessee are encouraging people to take to the streets on Saturday.

J'Anne Cox sees Halloween on a Sunday as a win-win situation.

"We have a longer time to celebrate the holiday this year. So you can do a Saturday and a Sunday because it's not one day, it's a long weekend," Cox explained.

It is estimated 36 million children in the United States, between the ages of 5 and 13, will go trick or treating this Halloween.
