NASHVILLE, Tenn. - Incumbent Marsha Blackburn has defeated democratic challenger Greg Rabidoux in the District 7 race. She celebrated along with other Nashville Republicans at Union Station in downtown Nashville.
With 99 percent of precincts reporting, Blackburn had 158,892, or 72 percent, to Rabidoux's 54,340, or 25 percent.
Republicans were celebrating as soon as the returns came in as they showed a historic night for the GOP.
"A lot more support for cutting taxes, cutting regulations and getting America back to work," said Blackburn about the 7-2 majority of Tennessee Republicans headed back to Washington.
Marsha Blackburn said the mandate of the win shows a philosophical divide in the country.
"I believe it's going to play a significant part in the legislative agenda and the work that's going to be done over the next couple of years," said Blackburn.
"They want performance-based leadership, they want people that are going to tackle the job and solve economic issues," said Blackburn.
