MEMPHIS - Authorities said a manatee believed to be from Florida is hanging out in the Mississippi River.
The eight-to-10-foot endangered mammal was spotted Monday splashing around and surfacing in the Wolf River Harbor, near downtown Memphis.
Wildlife officials plan to work in conjunction with experts from the zoo to decide what to do. In the meantime, barges and boats are being guided away from the manatee, who is about 750 miles off course.
