NASHVILLE - Police were called out to investigate an attempted robbery that left one man dead and sent another to the hospital - but there's a twist to the story.
The men were not the victims of the robbery, they were the suspects.
It all happened when the owner of the Smoke Depot off Stewarts Ferry Pike in Donelson decided to fire back.
One of the alleged robbers dropped his gun during the robbery and the owner grabbed it and fired, hitting both suspects. People at a nearby night spot heard the shots and rushed to help.
One suspect died, and the other was taken to the hospital. The shop owner was also hospitalized with a gash on his head.
It was unclear if the shop owner would face any charges.
