
NASHVILLE - Officials re-opened Charlotte Pike Monday after the road was closed Monday morning for a gas leak.
"It dissipates and this is a wide area. There is a little wind today so it's going to dissipate even quicker," Bonne Maynard with the Nashville Fire Department said.
Construction crews were working at Charlotte Pike and 28th Avenue North at around 2:30 a.m. when they hit the gas line.
Crews were reportedly digging for a water line ad hit the gas line. Charlotte Pike was closed as methane gas leaked into the air.
Hazmat and fire crews were called out as a precaution. NES was also on the scene.
No evacuations were ordered.
It was the second time in a month that construction crews have hit a gas line.
