Cab Driver Charged With Running Over Passenger

NASHVILLE - A Nashville cab driver was arrested after police said he intentionally ran over a passenger. The incident happened early Sunday morning on 31st Avenue and Vanderbilt Place.

Police said Ibrahim Ahmed chased down visiting students Jeremy Invus and Andrew Nelson after an argument over religion.

Investigators said the students paid their fare and were walking across a parking lot when Ahmed hit them.

Invus was taken to Vanderbilt Medical Center with serious injuries. Police said Nelson was able to dodge the cab.

Ahmed was charged with assault and attempted homicide. He was also charged with theft, because his license plate was listed as stolen.

His bond was set at $300,000.
