TDOT Spokesperson Responds to CTE Contract Amounts

It appears your figures are correct.

However, for the record, I must point out that the Department did award a considerably larger amount of consultant work in 2006 than was awarded in years past due to the continuing environmental and planning contracts (for which CTE did receive five contracts).

CTE rated no. 2 out of 58 firms from the staff technical evaluation for 2005, and at the time of the evaluation only had 2 active contracts compared to several other firms with more active contracts but with considerably lower ratings by the technical staff.

Even so, several firms still received more work over the same 9 months than CTE did.

Among them HMB, Mactec, Neel-Shafer, Palmer Engineering, Parsons Brinkerhoff, Parsons Transportation Group, PBS&J, Volkert and Associates and Wilbur Smith Associates.

As with CTE, much of this was the result of large on-call environmenal and planning services contracts awarded in 2006.

I believe it's important to put these numbers into perspective in order to have a good overall view.
