Fisk Sues To Be Able To Sell Artwork

NASHVILLE, Tenn.- Fisk University has filed a lawsuit to get a court order allowing the university to sell artworks from the Georgia O'Keeffe Collection.

O'Keeffe donated the collection to the Nashville school in 1949. She was a painter of the modern American art movement.

The collection has 101 photographs and paintings.

The university said it's not bound by a promise it made to O'Keeffe when she gave the collection that it not be divided or sold.

The school is currently going through major financial hardships.
