Vanderbilt Chancellor Turns Down Ohio State Job

(AP) NASHVILLE, Tenn. - Vanderbilt University Chancellor Gordon Gee has turned down an offer to return to Ohio State University.

Gee said his commitment to the Nashville private university was "unwavering and unshakable."

Published weekend news reports in Columbus, Ohio, said Ohio State leaders had asked Gee to return to the post he held there from 1990 to 1997.

Gee's salary package at Vanderbilt is valued at more than $1.2 million annually.

Vanderbilt board chair Martha Ingram says she expected other universities to court Gee, but expects him to remain at Vanderbilt for a long time.
