(AP) KNOXVILLE, Tenn. - The University of Tennessee has moved several students out of a dormitory that doesn't have air conditioning.
The extreme heat last week caused the university to relocate 28 students from Strong Hall, a women's dormitory. It's one of two residence halls without air conditioning.
University spokeswoman Karen Collins said cots were set up in Strong Hall's air-conditioned lounges and several students have been sleeping there.
An 18-year-old student required medical attention during last week's heat.
MaryAnn Lohmueller of Cincinnati told The Knoxville News Sentinel that her daughter, Hope Lohmueller, was taken to the UT Medical Center Wednesday night and released the next morning.
Lohmueller said she wants UT to reimburse her for the medical costs "at a minimum."
The university handed out box fans to students in Strong Hall, but said it is was not practical to air condition Strong and Melrose Halls.
The school plans to shut down both dorms after this academic year.
