NASHVILLE, Tenn.- The attorney general in Tennessee is objecting to a proposed settlement of a lawsuit between the Georgia O'Keefe Museum, and Fisk University.
Last week, the two sides agreed the museum would buy a 1927 oil painting by O'Keeffe, from Fisk for $7.5 million. The painting is part of a collection O'Keeffe donated to the university on the provision they never be sold.
Fisk is trying to sell the painting, to help balance their budget. The Attorney General said the settlement could have a "chilling effect" on other donors.
