NewsChannel5 reporter Mark Bellinger interviewing Nashville Fire Department spokesman Charles Shannon
NASHVILLE, Tenn. - Dozens of Nashville firefighters and emergency workers were at the scene of a four-alarm fire at a downtown Nashville warehouse.
Nashville Fire Department spokesman Charles Shannon said the fire started in a building on Fifth Avenue South and Peabody Street near the Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum.
It was reported after 9:30 p.m. Wednesday. When firefighters arrived flames engulfed the building.
Shannon said the contents are unknown because the firefighters primarily battled the flames outside the building.
"It's so dangerous we are evacuating our personnel," Shannon said as an alarm blared. "It's become tremendously dangerous."
Metro police said they don't think anyone was inside but Shannon said firefighters were not able to confirm that because they couldn't enter the building.
He said firefighters concentrated on cutting the fire off and preventing it from spreading, "which we were able to accomplish."
There were no reports of injured firefighters or other rescue personnel.
