NASHVILLE, Tenn. - The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation and the Cheatham County Sheriff's Office arrested a woman Monday night for trying to hire a hit man to kill another woman.

Norvalla Marie Peacher, 28, of Joelton, was charged with solicitation to commit first-degree murder.

Authorities said a 10-day investigation revealed Peacher tried to have someone kill the girlfriend of her 1-year-old daughter's father. The woman lives in Nashville.

TBI agents foiled the plot before any attempts on the target were made.

Peacher is married. But Cheatham County Sheriff John Holder said she still has issues with her baby's father and his new girlfriend.

"She just wanted her ex-boyfriend's girlfriend dead," he said.

Peacher met a TBI agent who posed as a hit man in Joelton. They discussed the execution-style hit. Her statements were taped.

"I would not have her killed," Peacher said in an interview from her Cheatham County jail cell. "I don't want my kids to think their momma is in jail for something bad."

She also said she didn't want to the woman killed because they used to be friends. She insists that it's all a mistake.

Investigators said the attempt to hire a hit man stemmed from a disagreement over child custody and support payments.

If it sounds like something featured on the outrageous "The Jerry Springer Show", it was.

Two months ago, Peacher appeared on the show with her husband and former boyfriend. The men fought in the studio.

Detectives said a lot emotion was displayed on the show.

But was Peacher angry enough to hire a hit man?

The sheriff said no doubt.

"We've got it on tape," he said. "Yes sir."

Peacher is in the Cheatham County Jail. She is scheduled for a bond hearing Wednesday morning.
