Police Officer Found Shot To Death At Home

MEMPHIS, Tenn. (AP) -- A Memphis police officer has been found shot to death at his home.

Lt. Ed Vidulich was found early Monday morning.

His car, which had been set on fire, was found several blocks from his Frayser neighborhood home.

Investigators have made no arrests and are questioning potential witnesses.

The 51-year-old Vidulich was supervisor of the Memphis police harbor patrol.

Police said the Vidulich residence was burglarized recently but it was not known if the earlier break-in was related to his death.

Officers have no evidence that he was targeted for attack.

As a harbor patrol officer, Vidulich played a leading role late last year in searching for a manatee that strayed 700 miles up the Mississippi River and took up a brief residence along the Memphis riverfront.
