So instead of trying, he's out with another version of the same album to mark the 25th anniversary of the album.
It came out Tuesday and it features redone editions of the songs with Kanye West, Akon and will.i.am.
Jackson has released a video through his record label, declaring that his "passion for music has never stopped" and that "there is still much to come" for his career.
Jackson's last CD was "Invincible," released in 2001.
Since then he has promised to release charity singles to help victims of the 2001 terror attacks and of Hurricane Katrina.
But those projects have failed to materialize.
