NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) -- Former Democratic Party Chairman Bob Tuke has officially announced his bid for the U.S. Senate.
Tuke said he has filed the necessary federal paperwork and has started raising the money to seek the Democratic nomination to challenge incumbent Republican Sen. Lamar Alexander.
The 60-year-old Tuke is an attorney and a former Marine officer who fought in the Vietnam war.
Others who have said they will run for the Democratic nomination include former Knox County Clerk Mike Padgett and former Green Party candidate Chris Lugo.
