BRENTWOOD, Tenn. (AP) -- Police believe that a Brentwood officer who was found dead of a gunshot wound in his cruiser committed suicide.
Larry Campbell, a 25-year veteran of the department south of Nashville, was found in the parking lot of the department's headquarters on Sunday night.
City Manager Mike Walker told The Tennessean that a six-page suicide note was found.
Campbell was married with two children. He handled traffic enforcement and accident reconstruction and had been an instructor at the Tennessee Law Enforcement Training Committee.
Sunday marked his 25th anniversary with the department.
