
NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) -- Nearly 3,000 Tennessee Baptist churches are being asked to take a special offering to help Union University recover from damage sustained in the Feb. 5 tornado.
Tennessee Baptist Convention president Tom McCoy called for the offering, which will be taken April 6.
The TBC-affiliated university in Jackson received an estimated $40 million in damage in the storm, including destruction of two dorms.
Across the state, 33 people died in the tornado.
