High School Athlete Arrested For Stealing Gas

FRANKLIN COUNTY, Tenn. - Police arrested Franklin County High School star athlete Ryan Hakeem Stovall, 18, Thursday on charges of theft of property between $1,000 and $10,000.

The School Resource Officer Craig Arnold obtained warrants that said Stovall admitted that he took a gas credit card from Coach Phillip King, without the coach knowing. After stealing the card around April 15, Stovall charged up to $2,261 in gas on the card at the Franklin Farmers Co-op in Decherd.

According to documents, when the SRO arrested Stovall he still had the gas card on him.

This wasn't Stovall first run-in with the law. Two years ago police arrested Stovall when he allegedly brought a gun to school and sold it to a friend.

At the time of the first incident, Stovall was ordered to attend the Alternative School, but he was later allowed to return to Franklin County High School. After returning he was also allowed to play various high school sports: football, basketball and baseball.

Stovall posted a $5,000 bond after being arrested for stealing the gas card. The teenager has been scheduled to appear in Franklin County General Sessions Court on June 11, 2008.
