NASHVILLE, Tenn.- Officers charged Calvin Houghland with disorderly conduct and public intoxication after he repeatedly harassed Cher who was visiting a club in downtown Nashville early Wednesday morning.
Police said Houghland, 36, tried to make contact with Cher, who was sitting in a roped off area in Tootsie's on Broadway around 12:50 a.m. Houghland left when security asked him to leave, but then he came back a little while later. He managed to reach past the roped off area and grabbed Cher by the waist.
Houghland was escorted out of the establishment, but then he came back again and was reported to have approached Cher in an aggressive manner, but security blocked him. That's when Houghland called police and said he was assaulted.
When police investigated they found that Houland actually assaulted Cher when he grabbed her by the waist, but she didn't want to prosecute.
After being asked to leave again, Houghland left and returned a third time, but this time he said he wanted to be arrested. He admitted to drinking three beers and failed a field sobriety test.
Houghland's bond is set at $3,000.
