MURFREESBORO, Tenn.- We all want to show we belong, and it's no different for Middle Tennessee state. They have been craving "the big one." That is, a home win over a school from a power conference, and they emerge from the smoke to take on Maryland.
Middle pulling out all the stops, on 4th down with the fake punt that got everyone looking, and a nice throw by the punter gets Middle the first down. The Blue Raiders' Joe Craddock finds Sancho McDonald making the score 7-0.
In the second half, Middle was clinging to a 17-14 lead, When Middle's Malcolm Beyah ran 53 yards and beats everyone downfield for the touchdown in a cleat and a sock after one of his shoes popped off in the play.
Late in the game, Maryland made a drive, but Middle sealed the deal with an interception in the end zone, and Middle gets that win they've been coveting, 24-14.
"We talked all week how it wasn't about Maryland; it's about us. We corrected mistakes from the first game. I think we did that. It's just a great team win. I mean... look at this. It's great for our school," said head coach, Rick Stocktstill.
