Supporters Rally To Save Nashville's Tent City

NASHVILLE, Tenn. - Friday people have planned to speak out against Nashville's decision to demolish the city's unofficial homeless camp.

Supporters and residents of tent city have scheduled a rally outside City Hall today in efforts to save the makeshift establishment. Supporters insisted that providing housing is a better solution than destroying the only housing many homeless people have..

The tent city site is about five acres on the Cumberland River downtown. Police said there have been safety and health issues realted to tent city, so the city made plans to close it Nov. 1.

About 150 people were expected to attend the rally which starts at 3 p.m. Friday.
