NASHVILLE, Tenn. - Metro police are getting more help in fighting crime.
Allstate Insurance gave Nashville's police department a new bait car.
It is outfitted with advanced technology to catch car thieves in the act including live streaming audio and video.
Police can also shut off the engine and lock the thief inside.
Police said they've seen a 20 percent decrease in vehicle thefts with the help of bait cars.
"When you take something that's traditionally a reactive type police operation with theft investigations and make it pro-active, you turn the tables on thieves and pretty much bring the fight to them. Word gets out," said detective Michael Fisher.
Vehicle theft is the No. 1 property crime in the country.
