NASHVILLE, Tenn. - A former middle Tennessee teacher will spend the next several years behind bars.
Friday, a Davidson County judge sentenced Kenneth Anderson to nine years in prison.
The former Smyrna High School teacher was convicted on eight counts of sexual battery by an authority figure, and this wasn't Anderson's first conviction.
Anderson was already serving time for statutory rape and simple assault.
"I thought the ruling the judge made was fair considering the circumstances. Obviously we would have like to have had him place on probation. We will pursue appeals, and I think we have some very good issues on appeal," said Mark Scruggs, defensive attorney.
Scruggs said Anderson could be eligible for parole in two to five years.
