Lakeisha White
Ron Killings
MURFREESBORO, Tenn. - The New Year could finally bring justice for the family of 11-year-old Lakeisha White, because criminal charges may be on the way.
According to the Daily News Journal, special prosecutor Joe Baugh said he plans to present charges to the grand jury soon, but he couldn't say what the charges might be or who they may be against.
In July, Rutherford County Detective Ron Killings struck and killed White as she crossed the road.
Witnesses said they saw Killings ditch two liquor bottles. When witnesses tried to point the bottles out to investigators, they said they were ignored or threatened with arrest.
Killings was given a blood test two hours after the crash, and it came back negative for drugs and alcohol.
