HENDERSONVILLE, Tenn. - All that was left Monday morning of a $1.45 million mansion was a burnt out shell.
A mansion that once belonged to Tammy Wynette in the early 1980s, and was built for Roy Orbison in 1963 has burnt to the ground.
This million dollar home on Riviera Drive in Hendersonville caught fire around 6 p.m. Sunday. Firefighters said that when they arrived the current owners of the mansion were not home, and 90 percent of house was completely engulfed in flames
Tune in to NewsChannel 5 tonight at 6 p.m. for up close look at the damage done to million dollar home.
As firefighters tried to save the home, cold weather and wind hindered their efforts - leaving the home a total loss.
Fire investigators were on the scene trying to determine the cause of the fire.
Some extra history on the house: Orbison has had three homes built for him, and all three homes have caught fire. In the first house fire two of Orbison's sons died, and Johnny Cash had once lived in the second home that caught fire.
