Lakeisha White
Ron Killings
MURFREESBORO, Tenn. - There was new information Monday morning about a former Rutherford County Sheriff's sergeant accused of killing a young girl in a deadly wreck.
Police said former Sgt. Ron Killings hit and killed 11 year-old Lakeisha White in July 2008.
A local newspaper reported that the special prosecutor handling the case, Joe Baugh, has met with the 11-year-old girl's family for the first time since he was assigned to the case after the local prosecutor recused himself.
Baugh and the family discussed several issues surrounding the case including why charges haven't been filed against the Murfreesboro police officers who investigated the crash.
Killings resigned after being charged with reckless homicide, tampering with evidence and filing a false report in February.
