NASHVILLE, Tenn. - A 3-year-old girl and an 8-year-old boy were severely beaten, and Friday morning, their mother and her boyfriend were arrested.
Police charged 27-year-old Elizabeth Messick and her 31-year-old boyfriend Chad Viney with two counts of aggravated child abuse.
The couple admitted to beating the 3-year-old with a belt because she would not eat her dinner. Police also said the 8-year-old was struck repeatedly.
Both children were treated at Vanderbilt University Medical Center and then placed in the custody of the Department of Children's Services.
