Families are using the daylight hours to sift through the rubble. The damage estimates are still coming in, but even houses that weren't completely leveled are barely recognizable.

Just days after tornadoes devastated parts of Middle Tennessee, time is revealing the massive scale of the destruction.

People in ten counties are dealing with damage on Monday, but Sumner County seems to have been hit the hardest. Officials now say a tornado that hit there had winds close to 17 miles per hour.

There are clean-up crews all over Sumner County. Many are working on the telephone and power lines looking to restore both services.

At a Gallatin gas station, they were also starting clean-up efforts. NewsChannel 5 learned that on Friday, 13 people sought shelter in the cooler between this gas station and the car wash and their lives were spared.

There are many other incredible stories of survival. The sense of destruction is starting to sink in for Gallatin's residents and it's a very emotional time for them.

Now, there's a way that you can help the people in Sumner County whose lives were touched by the tornadoes. The United Way of Sumner County is setting up a fund for the storm victims.

If you would like to contribute something to the fund or the cause, you can call the United Way of Sumner County at 615-826-2977.
